How to create a Brass Rubbing

Make sure there is no dust on the brass. If there is, clean the brass with a rag.

2) Make a mental note of the shape of your brass. Especially between the legs, arms and swords.

3) Cut paper to size and fix tightly to the brass with masking tape. Make sure there is a slight overlap of paper.

4) Feel for the edges of the brass with your fingers, creasing the outline as you go.

5) Take care not to puncture the paper with your nails. It is easily done so beware!

6) Using the flat side of the wax, go round the edges on the crease to pick out the outline in wax.

7)Then run lightly over the whole figure just to pick up the detail, taking care not to rub ovwer the edge.

8) Remember, use the flat side of your wax to do this.

Now you are ready to start rubbing!
