What is a ‘Brass Rubbing’?

For a number of years the interest in brasses, both as an historic record and as a beautiful art form, has led to an army of enthusiasts to develop the hobby of ‘brass rubbing’. This entails securing a
sheet of special paper over the brass plate and carefully rubbing the surface of the paper with brass rubbing wax. An accurate representation of the brass can thereby be obtained.
